With the vigorous development of the make-up market, make-up remover market is also expanding. Many cosmetic companies are competing to launch various makeup remover products to carve up this big cake.
Today, we’d like to share with you the key points of how to design a cleansing balm.
There are usually 3 major ingredients used in cleansing balm, wax, oil and emulsifier, of which wax is used as a structuring agent to help molding and prevent “sweating”, oil helps to remove makeup and moisturize skin, and emulsifier is the key to the effect of makeup removal.
When designing the formulation, three factors have to be considered: stability (high/low temperature resistance), cleansing performance and safety (mild and non-irritating).
Fumei Lab recently developed an ice cream cleansing balm. To test its stability, it was placed in the low temperature of-18 °C and the high temperature of 50°C for 9 weeks, and the balm had no obvious change. This mild and gentle makeup remover can quickly dissolves tenacious eye and face makeups and sunscreens. It cleans thoroughly, rinses off completely. Your skin will not be irritated or dry.
In this formualtion, Cerafumei® White Beeswax 2001 and Cerafumei® Sunflower Wax 5301 are combined used to provide desired texture and consistency. Beeswax can not only moisturize skin, but also has good ductility, which can improve the toughness of balm, it can also be used as thickener to adjust the viscosity of balm. In addition, beeswax is easy to be emulsified. Sunflower wax has excellent oil-binding capacity to prevent “sweating”, and due to its hardness, it can facilitate molding. Compared with other waxes, sunflower wax has a light skin feeling without any stickiness when used in the formulation.
Both waxes are 100% natural, and they are COSMOS APPROVED. For more information on wax and formulation, please go to the “Technical Library” at the top right of the website to download relevant data.
